Shopping Around Vancouver with Sucker Punch Castmates

At 20, Vanessa Hudgens is finally ready to “graduate” from high school — and “High School Musical.” The Disney starlet is stretching, looking for challenging work and hoping to bring her audience with her.

She knows that it’s a long way from “HSM” good-girl Gabriella to Blondie, her character in “Sucker Punch,” set to film this fall. That 2011 release has been described as “Alice in Wonderland … with machine guns,” by its director, Zack Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen”).

She sounds nervous but excited as she pitches “Sucker Punch” — “It’s basically about a group of girls who undergo a journey while they are at a brothel. My character’s name is Blondie. She’s kind of the tough one, you know. It’s very serious, kind of edgy. I’m going to have to control my laughter. I’ve never played a tough girl before.”

But Hudgens doesn’t want her longtime fans to experience R-rated whiplash. Before that film, due out in 2011, Hudgens wanted to take a last look or two around the halls of a high school. She wanted to cover some familiar ground, maybe give her “HSM” fans one last high school-set musical. “Bandslam,” which opened last week, isn’t by Disney and doesn’t have Wildcats singing and dancing their hearts out. But it will feel familiar enough to kids who have grown up with her.

“I’ve never rocked out before,” she says. “I’ve performed on stage for years, but usually I’m just up there, ‘dancing around with Troy,’ you know. But to be up on stage with a Flying V guitar, playing and singing rock songs, that was so cool!”

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens won’t be walking down the aisle just yet — both stars have denied reports they’re soon to be wed.

The “High School Musical” co-stars, who have dated since 2005, have long been subjected to speculation about their love life, with Efron denying in February that he’d proposed to Hudgens during a promotional trip in Japan.

Now the pair has been forced to speak out again after they were subjected to another round of rum ours about an engagement this weekend, after a British tabloid reported that Hudgens had hinted about a possible wedding date.

Representatives for both Efron and Hudgens maintain that while the couple is still together, reports of an imminent marriage ceremony are “not true.”

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that I’ll be on vacation for the next week and I won’t have access to a computer to update the site. But my cowebs will be around to update the site for upcoming news while I’m gone. It was a last minute trip, so I was kind of caught off guard. In fact, I’m in the middle of re-coding the site and converting the rest of the pages to wordpress. Vanessa was on the move last night after the Teen Choice Awards. She was spotted leaving LAX airport and arriving in Vancouver along with Zac late last night. Zac is in Vancouver filming scenes for his upcoming movie The Death And Life Of Charlie St Cloud while Vanessa is set to begin pre-production on her new project, Suckerpunch.
